TEDx is coming to Sevenoaks
If you haven't heard of TED, you're in for a treat. TED is a not-for-profit movement devoted to 'Ideas Worth Spreading'. It started in California in 1984 at a conference bringing together people from the then three separate worlds of Technology, Entertainment and Design and has grown into an influential movement that believes passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and ultimately, the world.
Speakers at TEDx Sevenoaks include author, journalist and TV presenter Alan Stevens who the Independent newspaper listed as "one of the top 10 media experts in the UK."
Also speaking will be a Sunday Times No1. best selling author, 2102 Olympic torch bearer and subject of a BBC film. This speaker will inspire with his extraordinary life story of over coming almost insurmountable odds to achieve peace, purpose and happiness,
Speakers have just 18 minutes to present their ideas which are then added to the TED video library which is freely accessible to anyone, anywhere on the planet. We are pleased to announce that we have been granted a license to host TEDxSevenoaks - a local version of TED that will mix live local and recorded international speakers supporting our theme of 'The Possibility of People'. Places are limited to just 100, so put this date in your diary.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx.
TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is call TEDx Sevenoaks, where x=independently organized TED event. At our TEDx Sevenoaks event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.
The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
This independent TEDx Sevenoaks event is operated under license from TED.
